SUE KEMP SWS, TWS
Sue May Kemp was born in Dallas, Texas and has lived in Austin with her husband,
Thomas, since 1987. She earned a B.S. and M.Ed. from the University of North Texas. After teaching in the public
schools for a few years, she pursued her love of art, concentrating on painting in watercolor.
Sue is a faculty member of The Art School of Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria
and is a signature member of Texas Watercolor Society (Purple Sage Honor Society) and Southwestern Watercolor Society.
She was elected First Vice President (Awards) of Texas Watercolor Society , 2009-2010. She is also a member of
Waterloo Watercolor Group (past president), Capitol Art Society, Third Coast Painters and Society of Children's
Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). Sue is a practicing artist and also a popular teacher and workshop instructor. Her
biography is listed in the 2010 edition of Marquis' Who's Who in America.

Sue has been painting for over twenty five years, beginning study under noted teachers Bud Biggs,
Naomi Brotherton, Leo Smith and M. Douglas Walton in the 1980's. She continues to take occasional workshops with nationally
known artists. Her paintings have hung in the Cannon House of Representatives, Washington, D.C., the Texas State Capitol and
in many juried competitions. Her work is included in private and corporate collections.
